About a week ago, the Trilogy Publishing company released BODEN to the world.  It has shown up in most book outlets in the USA and around the world.  I have a friend that bought it in Dubai, UAE.  Our hope was to release the book during a book signing at a popular book store, but their corporate put a kibosh on that until there certain COVID doesn't raise its head again.  Even though this bookstore was in Tennessee where masks are no longer required, corporate has stopped the majority of book signings.  There has been other little things that came out during the release, one major book outlet listed my name as TR Price instead of T R Price.  The two letters TR together with no space, brought up sexual type books for whatever reason.  My publisher contacted the book outlet and they fixed it.  It is great to have a publisher backing you when coordinating with book stores.  Within 24 hours they solved the issue.

Instead of a book signing, my wife and I decided on a live event on Facebook.  There was one radio interview a week before, but the live event was enjoyable and many comments were received.  The book has garnered four reviews thus far (all 5 out of 5 stars).  Many are enjoying the story and look forward to the next book to be released later this year.  We are excited as the book picks up momentum, and many others have the chance to read the story.

Another gathering of yellow and blue sticky notes have found their way into the trash bin.  There is a battle between administrative organization and the will (whether mine or his), weighing in on direction.  Dreams come quickly, filling my night time slumber.  The imagination breaks through with breath, and the Spirit weighs in on current events that have historic consequences.

Leaving the characters waiting is becoming an emotional moment.  Each life is dependent on the next turn in the story.  Each waits to be sent into the next step.  People around me are becoming critical to the story's success.  Their features and description endows Boden with a freshness, a vitality I could not get if I were writing in an upstairs room void of life.  It is the breath around me that brings important understanding of the human character.  It is an ethos, the vitality that intersects thoughts.  Something else, past experiences, more specifically  those traumas (both light and dark) of the past leave their own trail, their own scent.

The last word in the current chapter under development, left me astounded.  Research of the ancient past and current history, have similar issues that collide with each other.  What was not accomplished three-thousand years ago, now is being concluded.  Boden is adored presently, but there is conflict just around the corner.  He is torn, between doing what Eli is telling him and what his heart wants to do.  Eli realizes this, and spoke to Boden, bypassing me entirely.  Boden, mostly does what Eli says.  But his response . . .

Have started driving for Uber in Shasta County.  It's not that we need the extra income, not many rides anyways.  But I get to meet some of the most interesting people.  Some whom, I kicked out of the car for reasons I cannot mention here.  It is really the people contact, after retiring from the military in 1995 and then retiring from teaching in 2015, the people in this area are incredibly descriptive and worthy of character-hood.  I go down to Uber around San Francisco a couple times each month and that is a whole different story.  Have you ever squeezed five different rides into a Nissan Rogue?  And one of them has a bike (that folded into less than a two foot square).   Some of the people are barely making ends meet.  They live outside the main corporate work environment, and share homes worth (500K to 700K).  That is the low economic area.

Boden was waiting on me this morning.  Wanted to know when he could move forward again.  I shared with him, "You've got to stay put for a while.  Don't worry, Eli will make it worth it."  He was satisfied, but urged me to drive less and write more.  Here we go!

We really love the condo on the Sacramento River where we live.  It is a little rough getting the handyman to come and fix the stove.  I could do it, but the condo is a rental.  Patience is a virtue!  Christmas was amazing.  Sometimes it feels like we are newlyweds, but we are more like empty nesters at this point in our lives.  One daughter and grandchild live in Dubai and the other daughter and her family live in Chicago.  We returned to the cold north during the holidays and froze, but had an enjoyable time with family and friends.  I could not keep my mind off the story though.  It has taken on a life of its own.  The outline of the original story is now scrap and the train is heading in its own direction, or Eli's.

It was difficult, but the big white sheet of paper that hung on one of our walls containing the story outline is now in the trash bin.  It was quick and deliberate, a fast death.  The outline now hinges on the story and not the story hinging on the outline.  Sticky notes really are a God send.   Boden was glad!  And Eli already knew the direction the story would take.  I always ask Eli, "What will I see today?"  And He always responds, if I listen.  He is training me to hear His voice and every event.

I have discovered an author's dilemma.  When writing and coming to a stop leaving the character or characters hanging in a position of angst or trouble, makes for moments that you think or believe, "the characters are real" and need a way out, absolution, or solved.  Boden and Maria both talk to me and want answers, then I hear Eli's voice, and it is all about the wait. The characters are real!         Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I have over twenty-thousand words written.  It's incredible to find that within chaotic events which drive the story forward, there are moments of intense love, captured in a relationship that should never have occurred.  If time is an obstacle, then time must be overcome.  The supernatural elements of the story lift the protagonist into prominence and place him in the right places at the right times.  Regardless if he wants to be there or not.  Bridle this with an intense "pure heart" and you have an empowered protagonist capable of challenging the most difficult of antagonist(s), each chapter a step home forward and not back.  My wife was on a ropes course along with her school mates just before Thanksgiving.  Most of the students are 18 - 24 years of age.  My wife at 67 is having a blast being who she was created to be.  She jumped off the three-story platform and rappelled like a pro.  Continually amazes me!

Settling into our life in Redding California.  My wife is attending school as a student and here I am sitting at a local Starbucks, running with the story that is taking on a life of its own.  Looking to connect somehow with the leader of a specific indigenous people group in the Selah, Washington area.  Want to make sure to honor their story within the story, but remember this novel is fantasy fiction using specific events from history and a prophetic look into the future.

We are totally amazed that both the location numbers (longitude and latitude) and the word "confluence" became a reality in Selah, Washington!  Gathered some local information (details) and met some unique residents of the area.  One young lady at a cafe in town, now is a character in the novel, with a vital part.  Looking forward to connecting her to the story.
